From One Extreme To Another

We're supposed to have a big bonfire at our house this weekend, but the weather isn't cooperating.

Before we thought it would be too dry and unsafe to light a fire.

Now, it might be too wet!

Maybe I shouldn't have prayed for rain!!!

It poured all day yesterday, and it's supposed to do the same thing today and tomorrow.

I'm not giving up yet, because I'm hoping for a fire, but it's looking pretty doubtful. That's the bad part about planning outdoor events months in advance. You just can't count on the weather.

If we're not able to have the fire, I was thinking about doing indoor games and things, but now I'm leaning more towards rescheduling because there are a lot of kids (and adults---like me!) looking forward to this. The rains from Tropical Storm Ida should be gone by Friday, so I'll wait and see before I post pone or change anything.

It's frustrating not knowing how to plan. I could pray for patience, but I've been there and done that, and I don't think I want to do that again...lol.

Monday's Daybook

Outside my window...it's still dark out.

I am thinking...about going shopping in a neighboring town as soon as we're through with school.

From the learning room...we didn't get to everything last week, but I'm pleased considering the amount of extras that came up.

I am thankful for...new opportunities.

From the kitchen...we'll be having paprika chicken, sweet potatoes, and a summer squash/carrot medley.

I am wearing...pajamas and a fuzzy light blue robe. I have to drop DS off at class, so I need to get off the computer and into the shower so I'll be ready to leave the house by 7:10 (thankfully he gets his license next month!).

I am reading...the bank addendum for the house we want to buy. It's written in English, but it's confusing. I think lawyers would even have a hard time understanding it all. I much prefer straightforward talk...not legal schmegal jargon. If the title search comes back clean, the house will be ours and the closing will be Nov. 16.

I am hoping...to get some paint samples today.

I am creating...budget sheets, work schedules, supply lists, and lots of ideas for the house.

I am going...to disappoint a lot of families by not having a bonfire on Saturday. The event was planned in August, so it sounded great, but the reality is it's TOO DRY and unsafe to light a fire. We need rain. We'll still have everyone over for indoor and outdoor games, snacks, and fellowship, but it won't compare to the bonfire that was planned. I'm extremely bummed...and I know everyone else will be, too.

I am hearing...my husband microwaving oatmeal.

Around the house...everything is nice and clean just the way I like. Here's to hoping it'll stay that way until the party!

One of my favorite things...my puppy. I just love her to pieces, and the feeling is mutal. She's such a joy to have around the house.

A few plans for the rest of the week...bowling league, chess club, classes, a teen event, plus the event we're having at our house, and a meeting with the real estate lawyer.

A picture thought to share from the pumpkin festival on Saturday...

Monday's Daybook

Outside my window...gorgeous fall color and a beautiful 64 degree day.

I am thinking...about how hard it is to wait for answers. We put in an offer on another foreclosure property. The bank gave us a counter offer, and we met them halfway with our final offer. That was less than an hour ago, and I'm already on pins and needles waiting for their reply.

From the learning room...DS had class this morning, and DD did her math homework. Other than that, the kids have been on their own today because hubby and I have been busy taking care of business around town.

I am thankful for...public records. We found out that all the taxes up until 2009 have been paid on the property that we're interested in. We also found the survey and some information about the previous owners. Since it's a foreclosure home, the bank won't give us much information, so we decided to do our own digging. We also met with a lawyer who agreed to do the title search and deed transfer for us by Nov. 16.

From the kitchen...no idea yet. I'm hoping to go to Winston-Salem later on, so we'll probably eat out.

I am wearing...khakis and a black top.

I am reading...materials posts from Craigslist.

I am hoping...the bank will agree to our offer!!! I'm so impatient! ~sigh~

I am creating...a detailed budget sheet and construction schedule so we'll be able to go right to work fixing up the house "if" we get it.

I am going...to finish designing the kitchen and decide what to do about paint colors. I wish I had taken pictures, but I didn't so I'll have to go by memory.

I am hearing...Cassie chewing on a bone.

Around the house...things are in order. Over the weekend we put glass and grids in our interior transoms. I love the way it looks! I'll share pictures when I get a chance.

One of my favorite things...working on projects with my husband.

A few plans for the rest of the week...I don't really know yet.

Some "before" picture thoughts to share (thanks to our puppy, our scarecrow is now missing his hat and some of his hair)...

On Monday, we went to the park with camera in hand to take pictures to send to our families back home. Here are the results...
